CMS Issues CY 2027 Medicare End-Stage Renal Disease PPS Final Rule

The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services released the calendar year 2027 Medicare End-Stage Renal Disease Prospective Payment System final rule. Highlights include the following.

• Hospital-based and freestanding ESRD facilities are projected to have a 2.7% increase in total payments.
• CMS continues to apply a 5% cap on wage index decreases.
• Updates were made to the ESRD Quality Incentive Program.
