CMS Finalizes Organ Procurement Organization Conditions For Coverage Rule

The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services issued revised Conditions for Coverage for Organ Procurement Organizations. Revisions include clarifying the definition of “unsound medical practices,” modifying the definition of “adverse event,” requiring an OPO’s medical director to hold a license in at least one of the states within one of the OPO’s service areas and updating the appeals process.
