The Joint Commission Revises Fire Drill Requirements
Effective immediately, The Joint Commission has updated the timing for fire drills to align with National Fire Protection Association requirements that are intended to reduce the burden on accredited organizations.
The changes appear in TJC’s Environment of Care Standard EC.02.03.03, EP 3, for ambulatory care organizations, assisted living communities, nursing care centers, behavioral health care and human services organizations, and home care organizations. The revisions also apply to hospitals and critical access hospitals, according to Physical Environment Standard PE.03.01.01, EP 3.
