DHSS Encourages Providers To Review CDC Ebola Health Advisory
The Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services issued a health advisory encouraging health care facilities and providers to review the recent CDC health advisory regarding the current outbreak involving the Bundibugyo strain of Ebola virus in the Democratic Republic of the Congo and Uganda. At this time, no Ebola cases have been reported in the United States, and the overall risk to the U.S. remains low.
The CDC health advisory includes guidance related to patient screening, infection prevention and control precautions, isolation procedures, and reporting protocols for suspected cases.
Health care providers with questions or concerns regarding suspected cases should contact their local public health agency or the DHSS Bureau of Communicable Disease Control and Prevention at 573-751-6113 or 800-392-0272 (available 24/7). The Missouri Hospital Association updated its website and will continue to monitor the situation, providing updates as additional information becomes available.
