CMS Releases Updates To Nursing Home Care Compare Website

The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services released two revised memos referencing updates to the Nursing Home Care Compare website, pertaining to the Five-Star Quality Rating System.

• The QSO-25-20-NH REVISED 2025-09-10 memo reviews the temporary pause in the Nursing Home Care Compare website. Updates were revised to note CMS will make updates to Care Compare with the Sept. 24 refresh based on findings from the Payroll Based Journal, schizophrenia coding audits and Special Focus Facility status. Previously, the memo announced a full freeze on the Five-Star Quality Rating System.
• The QSO-25-20-NH memo notes that the timeline for incorporating the updated long-stay antipsychotic measure will be extended from October 2025 to January 2026.

Additionally, CMS will publish performance information for nursing homes in a more consumer-friendly format.
