CMS Issues CY 2027 Proposed Medicare ESRD PPS Payment And Policy Updates

The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services issued the Medicare End-Stage Renal Disease Prospective Payment System proposed payment updates for calendar year 2027. CMS estimates that the total increase in payments for CY 2027 to both freestanding and hospital-based ESRDs will be approximately 1.1%.

CMS also is proposing changes to low-volume payment adjustments, adjustments for pediatric patients and updates to the ESRD quality incentive program. Comments will be due 60 days from the date of filing for public inspection in the Federal Register. The Missouri Hospital Association published an issue brief with additional details.
