CMS Center Issues Updates to State Operations Manual Procedures for Complaint Investigations
On June 27, the CMS Center for Clinical Standards and Quality/Quality, Safety & Oversight Group released updates to State Operations Manual, Chapter 5, Sections 5500-5590. The updates to Chapter 5 provide procedures for complaint investigations and enforcement for all laboratory certificate types.
The updates include procedures for conducting complaint investigations in laboratories for all certificate types and temporary testing sites; revisions to complaint investigations and enforcement timelines; and reporting and investigating of transfusion-related fatalities.
The Missouri Hospital Association is a nonprofit association in Jefferson City that represents 136 Missouri hospitals. In addition to representation and advocacy on behalf of its membership, the association offers continuing education programs on current health care topics and seeks to educate the public about health care issues.
