Orientation Programs Transitioning To Education Academy Model
New Format To Benefit Emergency Preparedness, Infection Prevention and Quality Directors
Emergency Preparedness, Infection Prevention and Quality Directors will soon benefit from a new education delivery model offered by MHA. The association's long-standing orientation programs — Emergency Preparedness (EPO), Infection Prevention (IPO) and Quality Directors (QDO) — are evolving into academies which will better enable participants to strengthen core skills, connect with peers and learn from experienced experts to build confidence in their roles.
Building on a strong foundation, the academy model will continue to deliver essential orientation content in emergency preparedness, infection prevention and quality leadership, while expanding opportunities for learning and professional growth.
The new framework adds flexibility to cover additional safety-related fields, provide timely training on emerging issues and tailor sessions to member needs.
The academy model will:
- ensure consistent, high-quality orientation across disciplines,
- create a clear pathway for ongoing learning beyond orientation,
- introduce specialty and emerging-topic sessions as needed, and
- support members in building expertise and leadership capacity.

The Missouri Hospital Association is a nonprofit association in Jefferson City that represents 136 Missouri hospitals. In addition to representation and advocacy on behalf of its membership, the association offers continuing education programs on current health care topics and seeks to educate the public about health care issues.
