Staff Contact: Laura Warren-Hughes

The Missouri Perinatal Quality Collaborative, in partnership with the Missouri Hospital Association, published the "Maternal and Exposed Infant Hepatitis C" resource workbook, the latest in a series of guidance resources to help mitigate the causes of severe maternal morbidity and maternal mortality. Co-authored by specialists in infectious diseases, addiction medicine, and maternal-fetal medicine, this workbook examines national and Missouri-specific hepatitis C data, outlines evidence-based screening and treatment recommendations, and provides practical strategies for hospitals and clinics to treat pregnant and postpartum patients and reduce the risk of hepatitis C infection in newborns.

Additionally, in the latest MO PQC blog, Laura Marks, M.D., Ph.D., and Madeline McCrary, M.D., both co-authors of the aforementioned resource workbook, shared their experience working together with WashU’s obstetrics and maternal-fetal medicine teams to build some of the region’s most effective programs for treating hepatitis C during pregnancy and the postpartum period.
