Missouri Receives More Than $45 Million In RHTP Investments

The Missouri Department of Social Services announced three Rural Health Transformation Program investments this week, totaling more than $45.6 million.

The largest award, approximately $35 million, will fund 20 rural hospital projects through the Horizon 1 Strategic Minor Renovations Program. Projects will support facility modernization, equipment upgrades and operational improvements at participating hospitals. A full list of awardees for the Strategic Minor Renovations Program is available on Missouri’s RHTP website.

DSS also announced up to $4.2 million to expand training opportunities and workforce incentives for rural EMS professionals, in partnership with the Missouri Emergency Medical Services Association. More than 400 individuals have been selected to begin funded EMT and paramedic training.

A third announcement provides a combined $6.4 million to expand two existing programs: the Missouri Child Psychiatry Access Project and the Missouri Maternal Health Access Project. Both programs offer consultation, training and specialist support to providers caring for children, families, and pregnant and postpartum patients in underserved areas.

Implementation of the funded projects is expected to move forward in the coming months.
