Missouri Health Careers: A One-Stop Resource For Health Care Workforce Development
Missouri’s hospitals and health systems face a dual challenge: finding qualified employees to meet the immediate needs of patients while also building a strong, sustainable workforce for the future.
That’s where Missouri Health Careers can assist health care job recruiters. The online platform, provided by the Missouri Hospital Association, features information on health careers, educational programs, financial aid resources and more.
Whether you're a hospital leader looking to attract top talent or an educator guiding students toward careers in the health care industry, Missouri Health Careers offers free resources tailored to your mission.
“From career exploration and workforce development to scholarships and job tools, Missouri Health Careers is ready to help you inspire, recruit and retain the next generation of Missouri’s health care workforce,” said Jill Williams, MHA’s vice president of workforce development.
Find schools and financial aid
Many health care careers require education or training past the high school level. On the Missouri Health Careers website, those looking to start their health care career journey can find the medical, nursing or other schools that can put them a step closer to gaining the skills they’ll need.
Pursuing the dream to become a health care professional often requires a financial commitment for education and training. Missouri Health Careers provides information and resources for scholarships and other forms of financial assistance — both from the state and federal levels — to help individuals with educational expenses.
Additionally, many Missouri hospitals offer tuition reimbursement to their employees, so they can further their education while they’re working.
These resources can help reduce financial barriers to pursuing careers in the health care field.
Take a career quiz and compare jobs
A fun, interactive portion of the website allows users to take a career quiz to find a health care career for them. By answering a few questions, visitors to the site can discover health care roles that match their interests and skills.
Another tool allows people to compare health care careers , including salary, job growth potential and even how much interaction they’ll have with patients or blood.
Visitors to Missouri Health Careers also can read career profiles — stories from health care employees who currently work in the field. These articles give insights into the typical day of different health care jobs, what they like most about their roles and advice for future professionals.
Search job openings
Job seekers can search for job openings by hospital or browse by a specific career. This makes it easier for potential employees to find the right fit and for hospitals to attract candidates to fill roles.
In addition to Missouri Health Careers, MHA has another affiliate website, Missouri Hospital Jobs, where MHA-member hospitals and job seekers can connect through the National Healthcare Career Network.
