Missouri DSS Launches Automated Spend Down Processing

Staff Contact: Nate Percy

The Missouri Department of Social Services’ Family Support Division has launched a new automated spend down process that will enable participants to have coverage activated in as little as one business day. This expedited processing is available exclusively for charges submitted by providers using the online MO HealthNet Spend Down Provider form.

With the new expedited processing, once the provider submits the online form, the information is verified and the system updates overnight. If the charges meet the participant’s spend down amount, their coverage will be shown as active. The quick turnaround allows participants to access necessary services or pick up prescriptions faster, and providers can begin billing as soon as the day after submitting spend down charges.

For more information on eligibility and the Spend Down Program for MO HealthNet participants, providers can register for the Eligibility and Spend Down webinar at 9 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 7, 2026.
