Missouri Division Of Regulation And Licensure Restructures Engineering Consultation Unit

As of July 1, the Engineering Consultation Unit is no longer funded as a distinct unit within the Missouri Division of Regulation and Licensure. As a result of this change, DRL will no longer provide free, consultative plan reviews for health care facility types, except those classified as long-term care facilities:

• Skilled nursing facilities
• Intermediate care facilities
• Residential care facilities
• Assisted living facilities

For these LTC facilities, DRL will limit consultative plan review to new construction and/or major renovations that require Certificate of Need approval through the Health Facilities Review Committee.

For all other facility types, including hospitals, inpatient hospice, ambulatory surgery centers and adult day care programs, DRL life safety code staff will provide technical assistance regarding life safety code regulatory requirements, if requested.

For non-LTC facilities that had plans submitted before July 1, DRL staff will contact them to determine if they would like the plan review and consultation to continue through completion of the pending projects.
