Legislators Visit With Ray County Hospital And Healthcare Leaders
Two state lawmakers visited with leaders and staff of Ray County Hospital and Healthcare in Richmond, Mo., this week. Sen. Kurtis Gregory, R-Marshall, and Rep. Terry Thompson, R-Lexington, toured the hospital’s inpatient unit and emergency department.
Discussion topics during the visit included the value of using hospital beds as swing beds to help patients stay closer to home for care, participation in the Show-Me High Value Network and its expected benefits to the hospital, and the importance of the 340B Drug Pricing Program alongside concerns about current reporting requirements by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services and the administrative burden of additional reporting.
This visit is part of the Missouri Hospital Association’s ongoing work to connect legislators with hospital leaders across the state and help policymakers better understand how legislation affects patient care and hospital operations.
