FDA Requires Major Changes To Opioid Pain Medication Labeling
The FDA last week released new guidance for opioid manufacturers, requiring stronger language on medication labels. These new standards will see warnings against rapid reduction in opioid therapy due to the risk of withdrawn symptoms, pain and even suicide.
The FDA also is requiring drug manufacturers to discuss medications to reverse opioid overdose such as naloxone.
