CDC’s Project Firstline Offers Micro-learn Trainings For EVS Teams

Environmental services staff plays a crucial role in maintaining clean and safe health care environments. Because EVS workers are the first line of defense against the spread of germs, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s Project Firstline launched a new series of infection control micro-learn training resources that can be easily incorporated into existing team meetings. 

Project Firstline’s “EVS Micro-Learns: Essentials for Infection Control” is a series of guided infection control discussions that provide brief, on-the-job training for EVS workers in health care settings. Each micro-learn explains how and why EVS practices help protect patients and save lives. 

New topics include the following.

• Clean and Safe Carts
• Clean Hands
• Contact Time
• Effective Cleaning and Disinfection Start With Preparation
• Sink Drains
• Water in Health Care 

Each micro-learn includes a user guide, discussion guide, and job aid, making the training easy for health care leaders to use and adapt for their teams. 

Project Firstline also offers other educational materials to support training on a range of infection control topics.
