AHA Report, #HAVhope Friday Shed Light on Workplace Violence

A recent report from the American Hospital Association estimates that hospitals and health systems spend $18 billion annually on preventing and responding to violence in their facilities and communities. This Friday, June 6, join hospitals and health systems nationwide by recognizing AHA's ninth annual #HAVhope Friday to help raise awareness about this important issue. 

The AHA offers information on how hospitals and health systems in the U.S. combat violence in their workplaces and communities and resources on how you can support the passage of the Save Healthcare Workers Act (H.R. 3178/S.1600) - bipartisan legislation that would make it a federal crime to assault a hospital worker on the job. In addition, a digital toolkit is available for hospital use.

The Missouri Hospital Association also provides resources to assist member hospitals with mitigating workplace violence on its Worker Safety webpage, in addition to the Healing Happens Here toolkit, a series of public-facing resources to raise awareness about the type of behavior acceptable within the health care environment.
