About MHA Membership
Choose the Right Membership Type
Review MHA’s membership types to select the right application for your organization.
Institutional Membership
Institutional membership is available to hospitals that provide diagnosis or treatment of persons. There are two categories of institutional memberships.
Category 1
Category 1 institutional membership covers all Missouri hospitals. It is composed of three specific types.
- Type A — General and specialty hospitals licensed or eligible for state licensure as hospitals, which primarily provide care for persons who normally require a relatively short period of hospitalization
- Type B — Hospitals owned or operated by the U.S. government located in Missouri and in states adjacent to Missouri, or owned or operated by Missouri state government that do not or cannot qualify for membership under Type A
- Type C — Hospitals in states adjacent to Missouri that pay full institutional dues
Category 2
Category 2 institutional membership covers all organizations that are in the process of constructing a new hospital.
Privileges for Institutional Members:
- Advocacy and representation in the Missouri Legislature
- Access to a series of educational seminars throughout the state, including MHA’s Annual Convention & Trade Show for all organization employees
- Access to the members-only section of MHA’s website
- Networking opportunities through district council meetings and conventions
- Access to publications, including MHA Today and Today’s Headlines
- Status as a voting member of the association
Non-Missouri District Membership
Hospitals located in states adjacent to Missouri may become members of one of MHA’s district councils.
The association is divided into six geographic districts that allow for equal representation and advocacy. The choice of district will be determined by geographic location and political appropriateness. District membership must be approved by the MHA Board of Trustees.
Membership in a district council shall not be contingent upon membership in MHA, but such district council membership shall be subject to the policies of the district that the hospital joins, including dues, which may be established by the MHA board.

- Access to the members-only section of MHA’s website
- Networking opportunities through district council meetings and conventions
Access to a series of educational seminars throughout the state, including MHA’s Annual Convention & Trade Show for all organization employees
Associate Membership
Associate membership is available to organizations whose purpose and objectives are complementary to and not in conflict with MHA’s purpose and objectives. These members must be approved by the MHA Board of Trustees. Note that organizations holding associate memberships are nonvoting members.

- Access to the members-only section of MHA’s website
- Access to publications, including MHA Today and Today’s Headlines
- Reduced rate for MHA’s Annual Convention & Trade Show
Associate membership is offered on a calendar-year basis. Annual dues are $2,050 and will be prorated the first year.
Individual Membership
Individual memberships iare available. Applicants are approved by the MHA president, and those holding individual memberships are nonvoting members.

- Reduced rate for MHA’s Annual Convention & Trade Show
